Not enough people know about what they can do for you.

I have a micro compact 1911 I wanted night sights on and had a local gunsmith do it (Happy with it) but the factory will do it for you along with great stuff for the XD and 1911

http://www.springfield-armory.com/custom.php

I own a loaded 1911 and sending back this year to have it upgraded to the TRP

I love the Armory Kote finish

Install TRP™ barrel & bushing (bull barrel system in pistols shorter or longer than 5”), skeletonized delta hammer, low mount Novak rear sight & dovetail front sight with 3 dot tritium inserts (dovetail front sight & tritium inserts not available on ported 1911-A1 V10 models), extended ambidextrous thumb safety, custom fitted beavertail grip safety, adjustable lightweight aluminum match trigger, full length guide rod w/heavy duty recoil spring & buffer system (buffer system not available in pistols shorter than 5”), flat checkered mainspring housing; tune & polish extractor; deburr pistol internally; carry bevel™ sharp edges of pistol; machine checker front strap 20LPI (+); check headspace; polish feed ramp & throat
barrel; combat action job w/smoothly tuned 4.5-5.5# trigger pull; recontour frame and dust cover to 2002 specs; front cocking serrations; Armory Kote™ finish, satin finish, stainless steel, or carbon models.

If it were my carry gun I'd leave out the full length guide rod and possibly the buffer. Other than that it sounds great. Mind you I'm not busting you on your choice, just my personal preference.

Dave.

I like the idea of turning into a gun I couldnt afford from the factory years ago.

I called the custom shop and talked to them for a while. The woman on the phone commented her gunsmiths were a huge asset that people did not know about.

Also depending on the work you dont have to send the entire gun. Others I talked to said they arrange the pickup and delivery.

My boss just got his 1911 back from them. He returned it for warranty repair of the plunger tube and had a set of 3 dot sights installed, regulated and the slide refinished. They seem to have done pretty good work and he said the sights were right on.

I assume it's a 45 acp right?

What do you load it with?

I have two expensive 1911s that are not reliable. Theyre a Kimber Gold Match and a Series 70 Gold Cup. I trust my Colt with 230 gr ball and that's all. Otherwise its a failure to go into battery every other mag, even though I changed to all Wilson mags and put an 18.5 lb recoil spring on my Kimber.

I just dont trust that if Im into trouble with a goblin, either of those guns will perform 100%.

Dont worry about my glock or my P-99 though.

Someday soon Ive contemplated an XD 45 auto. It just hasnt screamed at me loudly enough.

My full size will shoot anything I run through it (no reloads)

The micro compact is very picky, and non springfield magazines do not feed it very well.

I bought the micro compact because I thought I needed a little gun for every day carry, once I put some thought into carrying I found I carry the full size most of the time.

Also the micro compact has a lot of recoil.

I have other guns that I carry, Glock 22, SR9, Bersa 380, couple revolvers. The full size 1911 is my favorite.
