I got the opportunity to listen and speak to Mr. Dick Heller ( District of Columbia vs Heller) and Mr. Dane vonBreichenruchardt president of the Bill of Rights Foundation this evening. After meeting these gentlemen the need for people to join and support a Rights organization is more evident now than any time before. Your Rights as we speak are under constant attack and need protection. It is time to provide that protection by joining an organization, rather it be an organization like the WVCDL, NRA, Bill of Rights Foundation, etc. IT IS TIME to get involved before it is to late, because it is happening right before your eyes one Right at a time!!!!!!

I totally agree with you. Gun owners should join every rights organization they can afford. I wish I could join more of them, especially GOA, but the money just isn't here right now. I tried to interest two 20 something gents today in joining WVCDL, both work for the railroad and have great pay, both have CCW  but neither would join. I just couldn't make them understand how important it is.

I wish I knew the answer on how to get people involved, a lot of them I talk to say the don't know how or where to get involved but, when you tell them, there is all ways an excuse. It does not matter what the age the biggest excuse is (it will never happen) or (I don't have the time) but, when it happens they are out raged and when ask if they joined they just have another excuse! I call this attitude Fat, Dumb and Happy , they go along in life expecting some one else to do all the work until reality slaps them in the face and they have lost there Rights and claim they did not know it was happening. Just needed to vent, may be this will do some good. :?:

I was right there with you for the meet and talk with Mr. Heller. I agree more people need to wake up and join or do something. I was one of those who just wanted to go along with my own life and not be bothered by politics. Somehow getting a hold of a gun and going to the range changed things for me. I've been a passive watcher of the news for many years now and I'm at the point where I can't watch or else I'm outraged. Hence why I'm getting involved and calling/emailing my reps whenever I can.

Gotta start somewhere.

"It is the duty of every citizen to be a part time politician." -- Dwight D. Eisenhower.

WV Delegate John Overington has that printed on all of his stationary. Sage words, I think.

I agree with you. I was exactly like you. Now I have joined the WVCDL and the NRA. That is all I can afford right now.

It wasn't so long ago that I was as apathetic as anyone. I'm not sure what the catylist was that got me off my butt.

The problem is the same as it has been for years. Plain and simple, people are lazy and they sit back hoping someone else will take on the fight so they don't have to give up any time or exert themselves. It's not like they can't find a group to join, with internet and media access ,there is no excuse for not knowing what to do.
These same people are the ones who sit and bitch about everything the gov't is doing.
I always like to ask them after their rant "Well, what are you doing about it?".
The answer is most often a blank look.

I was guilty of apathy too but, am now getting off my butt to do something about it. Just joined the NRA, and am writing letters to the poiticians in WV. We have to learn how to stop sitting back and letting "somebody else" take care of us. We need to take care of ourselves.

We also need to vote the anti-gun jerks out of office.......
